MICHAEL’S INDIA FREEDOM QUiZ - iFQ 2015

St. Michael’s AI HSS, Kannur  is concluding its Sesqui-centenary celebrations. In connection with the 150th year Celebrations, we are organising an inter-school Mega Quiz : ‘INDIA FREDEDOM QUIZ – iFQ 2015’,  on India’s Freedom Movement.  

A MEGA MULTIMEDIA QUiZ SHOW- ON INDIA’S FREEDOM STRUGGLE
Ø  Quiz Topic: India’s freedom Struggle during the British period (1757 – 1947)
Ø  A Preliminary Quiz Test based on: India GK- Post-independence  period.
Ø  All questions in the preliminary test and iFQ 2015, will be in English.
Ø  Only 6 teams with the highest scores in the preliminary test, qualifies to iFQ 2015.
Ø  iFQ 2015 is a Multimedia Quiz, staged with six qualified teams from the preliminary test.  
Ø  Registration at 09 am, near the Media room
Ø  Preliminary test at: 09.30 am, on 06th November, 2015, in the media room
Ø  iFQ  Stage quiz at: 11 am, on the same day, in the school Auditorium.

Rules and regulations:
·         The competition is strictly for HS/HSS Students from schools of Kannur District and all schools of Kerala Jesuit Province.
·         Students from all boards viz. Kerala (Govt., Aided & Un-Aided), ICSE, CBSE  etc are eligible
·         Only one team from a school is allowed. A team consists of two students - either from HS/HSS or combined.
·         Entries are to be submitted in the specified Entry form, certified by the Head of the institution. Entries can be submitted in person or through Post/Email to:

As an endeavour to pay tribute to the educationist, scientist, missile man and the People’s President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his birthday on 15th October, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces CBSE Expression Series on Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam on 15 th October, 2015. The details of this Expression Series are as follow:
i. To be held on 15 th October, 2015.
ii. The three categories of participation are: a) Classes I to V, b) Classes VI to VIII and c) Classes IX to XII
 iii. Topics are given below
iv. Students may submit their entries as Essay/ Poem/ Drawing.
v. Entries may be submitted in any one of the 22 scheduled languages and English.
vi.  x. Best 36 entries in each category shall be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- and a Certificate of Merit.

Advance to Australia – India Schools Video Competition 2015

Students from IGCSE, IB, CBSE, ICSE and State Board  schools across India can have the chance to win a five-day trip to Australia, hosted by  leading Australian universities in the Advance to Australia India Schools Video Competition.
  • The competition is open to school students from grades  7 - 11, studying in India.
  • Teams should contain a maximum of two students.
  • Students must choose one of the following four themes: 
    • Social entrepreneurship
    • Creative Animation
    • Robotics
    • Marine Sciences
  • Schools can nominate a maximum of four teams (one for each theme)

The competition is organised by Cambridge English Language Assessment and the Australian Trade Commission with support from Bond University, Charles Darwin University, Curtin University, and James Cook University. Travel is sponsored by National Australia Bank and CredilaSAE Institute is the Knowledge Partner.

Aavishkar Quiz October 2015

Target Group:
 The children in the schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary education in the following categories.
 Primary : I- V
 Middle : VI- VIII
  Secondary : IX –XII

Eligibility: Any bonafide student of a school affiliated to CBSE studying in standard I to standard XII can participate in the competition in the respective categories.
Type of Quiz : Face to Face Competition in Schools followed by selection of best talents by CBSE through an online quiz.
Medium : English/Hindi
Prizes:
Top ten students from each category (Primary-10, Middle-10 and Secondary-10) shall be shortlisted based on their performance and time for completion of the Online Quiz conducted by the Board. Each winner shall be given Rs.2500/- ( Rs. Two thousand five hundred only).
Conduct of Quiz: 
 To ensure wider participation of students, involvement of schools and selection of the winners on merit, the competition is proposed in two stages. The school level competition shall be held first as detailed below. Thereafter in the last week, the Board shall conduct an online quiz for finding out the best talents from the school level competition who have registered successfully.
Stage: 1- School Level Competition: 
The school shall organize an in-house Quiz Competition on any day during 7-13th October on the given theme i.e. “Light and Cinema”. The focus should be on creativity and innovation in the area of Mathematics, Science and Technology. The school shall select best two students from each category ( Primary, Middle and Secondary ). The selection of the candidates should be made in an impartial manner involving all students interested in the Quiz competition. The school may evolve its own mechanism for initial shortlisting. However conduct of Quiz competition on any day during 7-13th October 2015 in the school is a mandatory condition to be eligible for the next stage .
The names of two winners in each category ,two photographs of the event, a report in 200 words and contact details must be uploaded by the school on a link which will be available on CBSE website www.cbseacademic.in under the link “ Aavishkar Quiz” during 15th and 16th October , 2015. Schools shall be able to register only upto 5-00 p.m on 16th October 2015 . The specifications of the photograph for uploading are as given below.

 Size of Image –Maximum 200 KB
Utmost care should be taken while filling up the registration form and submission of report of first stage. In case, the email id registered is found to be invalid, no user id and password will be issued. Report submitted by any other mode like email, post etc. shall not be considered for registration. This is only the first level of the Quiz and no prizes are given by the Board to winners of the first stage.
Stage: 2 – Online Quiz conducted by the Board : The Board shall allot user id and password to the schools who have successfully registered within stipulated time. The date of the Online Quiz shall be 28th October 2015 . Best entries shall be selected on the basis of maximum scores obtained and minimum time for completion of the Quiz.
 All the schools which have registered for Aavishkar quiz series in the first stage by uploading their reports on the link given on www.cbseacademic.in latest by 5-00 p.m. on 16th October 2015 may conduct Online Quiz competition and shall follow the guidelines given below :
1. The Online Quiz Competition will be held on 28th October 2015.
2. User id and password can be downloaded from the link ,which will be available on the link “ Aavishkar quiz”on www.cbseacadmeic.in latest by 21st October 2015 .
You may provide the user id and password to the students only on the day of the Online quiz. Please note that, those who have not received any registration number shall not be given any user id and password.
The participating schools may note the following:
a) Participants have to be present in their own school and the Online Quiz competition will be held under the personal supervision of the Principal of the school.
b) The quiz will be held in three categories as per the following schedule :
1. Primary : I-V 9:45 a.m to 10: 30 a.m.
2. Middle: VI-VIII 11:30 a.m to 12: 15 p.m.
 3. Secondary : IX-XII 1: 00 p.m. to 1: 45 p.m.
c) The link shall be available on www.cbseacademic.in under the link Aavishkar quiz fifteen minutes prior to the commencement of the quiz for each category.
d) The total time duration for the quiz will be 45 minutes.
e) There shall be a total of 50 Multiple choice questions.
f) There shall be no negative marking.
g) Attempting all questions is not compulsory.
h) Once submit button is clicked, the score and time shall be saved and no changes can be made thereafter.
i) The candidate has to login using his/her user id and password. Login is allowed only once.
 j) The final selection will be based on the maximum score obtained and minimum time taken.
k) Quiz shall not be conducted again if there are technical problems at the Centre.
l) The principals shall be personally responsible for smooth and fair conduct of the Online quiz in their schools by giving all technical support required .
 m) However no support whatsoever shall be given by the school to the candidates participating in the Online quiz competition for answering the questions.
3. The schools must ensure the following for the smooth conduct of online quiz competition.
a) Uninterrupted Broad band connection/back up dongle in the school for proper access of the website.
b) One computer for each candidate.
 c) Backup power in case of power failure with UPS connected to each computer and the internet router.
d) The school must test the system one day in advance.
e) The technical failure shall not be considered the reason for re conduct of the quiz and School shall be responsible for provision of all required technical support.
For claiming the prize money, the Principal of the school shall sent a bonafide certificate of the winner in the Proforma given in Annexure- 1 within three days of declaration of the result on the email id: aavishkarquiz@gmail.com. You may ensure maximum participation of the students in the Quiz Competition which will in turn promote inquisitiveness and creativity among them in the area of Mathematics , Science and Technology. Sony World Photography Awards: Student Focus (For college students studying photography)

The World Photography Organisation and British Journal of Photography are pleased to invite registered universities from across the world to submit entries to the 2016 Student Focus competition, one of the world’s leading programmes for photography students.
New this year, British Journal of Photography (BJP), the world's longest running photography magazine, will partner with WPO to deliver the 2016 Student Focus competition. As part of this collaboration, on top of receiving €30,000 worth of Sony photography equipment for his or her university, the winning Student Focus photographer will receive an online feature showcasing a body of work on the BJP website and will have the opportunity to take over the magazine’s Instagram feed for one weekend.

International Photography Contest of Kerala - open to all photography enthusiasts

Kerala Tourism brings to you the ‘International Photography Contest of Kerala’, a platform in which photographers from across the globe compete to win the coveted prize money.

Here is a photography competition in which anyone with a passion for photography can participate. All participants may submit their photographs which will then be shared and rated by visitors to the website.

PRIZES
The prizes are as follows:*

Category I First prize Rs 5.00 lacs
Category II Second Prize Rs 3.00 lacs
Category III Third Prize Rs 2.00 lacs
Category IV Consolation Prize (5 prizes) Rs 1.00 lac**
* If the Judging Committee decides that there is more than one winning entry in any category, the prize amount will be divided and distributed accordingly.

GUIDELINES FOR THE CONTEST

  • The photographs should be on Kerala. The theme should support promotion of the tourism potential of Kerala.
  • The photographs should portray Kerala in a positive manner.
  • The photograph should be original and the participant should hold its copyright.
  • Kerala Tourism, its officers and agents should be totally indemnified against any third party claim on the photograph.
  • The Contest begins on 24th September 2015 and the closing date for receipt of entries is 31st December 2015.
  • A maximum of three images will be accepted from each participant.
  • All images should be submitted online through the Kerala Tourism website. For submission the login id and password received at the time of registration are to be used.
  • Digital submissions must have at least 1000 Pixels and less than 3000 pixels in either height or width and saved as Jpegs (.jpg), and not exceed 4MB per file, at 72dpi resolution.
  • Digitally manipulated photos (using programs like Photoshop or any other software) will be disqualified.
  • Entries to this competition must have been taken in the period - 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2015.
  • Regarding the competition and selection of winners, decision of Kerala Tourism will be final.
  • Kerala Tourism reserves the right to publish or use any of the photographs submitted.
  • By participating in this photography competition, it is construed that all contestants hereby give their consent to use the entries submitted for this photography competition for Kerala Tourism promotion irrespective of the fact whether the entries win a prize or not. However the copyright of the non-winning entries will be vested with the photographer.
  • Copyright of the winning entries will be vested with Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala and the photographs which won the prizes will be the exclusive property of the Kerala Tourism.
  • The winners must forward the RAW files or 300 dpi high resolution photographs of the winning entries to the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala on demand before the formal declaration of prizes. Winners who do not submit high resolution images of winning entries before formal declaration of prizes will be disqualified and the Judging Committee will select new winners from remaining contestants.
  • Taxes will be applicable in accordance with Indian law and will be deducted from prize money.
  • The distribution of prizes to potential winners is subject to the express requirement that the prize winner submit all documentation requested by Kerala Tourism to Kerala Tourism in order to permit compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • If the Judging Committee decides that there is more than one winning entry in any category, the prize amount will be divided and distributed accordingly.

NextWizard: A national talent hunt quiz for classes V–X

NextWizard is a national talent hunt quiz for classes V–X. This inter-school quiz competition, scheduled to be conducted across 40 locations in India, will give students the platform to show their knowledge. The competition will be held at two levels – city and national. At the city level, the competition will be held at specific venues in these cities. One student from each grade in each city will be selected for the national level competition, to be held in New Delhi. At the final level, the winners will be selected from each grade.

Quiz Schedule

The Quiz shall be conducted in two levels:
For City Level: Question Paper shall be OMR-based with following structure:

The city level competition shall be conducted at a common venue in the city and the national level competition shall be conducted in Delhi. For the national level competition, Next Education will take care of the travel and accommodation needs of the qualified students and one of their parents.

Submission Guidelines:- Mail us a soft copy of an essay with the cover letter containing the Title and theme of an essay, Name of the participant, Address, age, Qualification, contact details, e-mail id, School College, University, Institution with address, class, course, year or semester, at ramnathfoundation2015@gmail.com in not more than 1500 words including footnotes. With font size 12 and for heading font size 14 and for footnotes font size 10, Times New Roman 1.5 line spacing.
 Who can participate: -
Group A: Students from 9th to 12th
Group B: Under Graduate Students, Post graduate Students, Research Scholars, etc.
 Registration fee - There is a Registration fee i.e. INR 50/- for Group A participants and INR 150/- for Group B, payable at State Bank of India, A/C holder Shobhit Garg ,  Branch :- Subhash Bazar, Meerut A/C No. 33607895793.
 Prizes : - Prizes to the over-all best three entries in Hindi & English are as under:
i.) Group A – Cash prize of INR 500 and winning certificate will be awarded to the best entry from 9th to 12th. Top 3 essays shall also be published in Legal Desire Reporter which will consider as a first prize among the Group A.
ii.) Group B:-
 INR 1100/- in cash to the winner. (other Than law fields)
 A book of Lexis Nexis.
 ONLINE CERTIFICATION COURSE in CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CODE will be awarded to the best 3 entries from legal field.
 Winning certificate
 The best essay will be published in Legal Desire International Journal Of Law and the winning participant will be entitled to the copy of journal containing the essay.
PLUS TOP 20 PARTICIPANTS SHALL BE GIVEN VOUCHERS FOR FREE/DISCOUNTED COURSES FROM LEGAL DESIRE CAMPUS.

iii.) A full list of winners would be published on the websites of the Foundation on 25th November 2015 (www.ramnathfoundation.org). Winners who shall be invited to Meerut for Award ceremony or prizes will be sent to the address given by the participants.
iv.) Certificate of participation will be given to all the participants with the “hand book of Human rights”.
v.) The best essay in Hindi will be awarded with the pen drive and certificate with the hand book on Human Rights which will consider as a third prize. 
 Object : - The aim of the Ramnath Foundation National Socio-Legal Essay Competition is to encourage writing on social issues, among the Students of Schools / Colleges /Universities / Institutions and arouse their interest in fundamental social issues like fair reservation, social justice, removal of untouchability, caste based prejudices, removal of inequality and discrimination, social democracy, national integration, communal harmony etc. The students are expected to analyse and suggest ways and means to establish a stronger social democracy and a just society.
 Criteria for valuation:- Contents , writing skills, case laws, footnotes, analysis and interpretation, examples, word limit, plagiarism may result in disqualify from the competition, Review panel will scrutinize the essay as per the criteria established.” The organizers reserve the right to reject entries that do not conform to these Guidelines”
