Nation-wide Letter Writing Competition for school children

India Post will be conducting a Nation-wide Letter Writing Competition for school children during the National Postal Week, 2015. In Chennai City Region, the Competition will be held at every Postal Divisional Headquarters on Philatelic Day in October 2015
Some of the salient features of the competition are: Ÿ
 The Competition will be held in two categories: Junior (up to Class V); Senior (Class VI to X) Ÿ
The letter is to be addressed to the 'Grandparents’ Ÿ Children may choose to write on any one of the following themes: 
 How did I spend my vacation 
One day in my school 
 My favourite book Ÿ 
The letter can be written on Inland Letter Card (ILC) or A4 paper Ÿ 
The Department will provide stationery/ILC/envelopes/stamps for posting the letters to their grandparents Ÿ 
Children should bring the complete postal address with PIN Code, of their grandparents Ÿ 
Top three letters of each Division should be given suitable prizes and the same would be sent to Circle Office for State Level evaluation and then to New Delhi for All India Level evaluation Ÿ
Children would be introduced to Philately and information about opening and maintaining Philately Deposit Accounts (PDA), with the purpose of encouraging them to develop interest in Philately and open PDA.

CBSE Expression Series on Mahatma Gandhi

To pay tribute to ‘the Father of Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi, on his birthday on 2nd October, CBSE announces Expression Series on Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, 2015.The details of this Expression Series are as follow:
i. To be held on 2 nd October, 2015.
ii. The three categories of participation are: a) Classes I to V, b) Classes VI to VIII and c) Classes IX to XII
iii. Topics are given in Annexure 1.
 iv. Students may submit their entries as Essay/ Poem/ Drawing.
v. Entries may be submitted in any one of the 22 scheduled languages and English.
 vi. Participation is voluntary. As it is a national holiday, interested participants may submit the entry from home or from a place as per their convenience.
vii. Entries may be submitted using any of the three following modes: a) Online mode through the link to be made available on www.cbseacademic.in (Details given in Annexure II) b) Uploading only the jpeg/ jpg/ doc file of the entry through the link to be made available on www.cbseacademic.in .

 ix. The links and Mobile App for submission of entry shall remain activated from 08:00hrs in morning to 23:59 hrs in night on 2nd October, 2015.
x. Entries submitted through email/ by post may not be considered.
xi. Best 36 entries in each category shall be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- and a Certificate of Merit.
xii. Each participant will get a Certificate of Participation.
xiii. Selection of best entries will be on the basis of originality of content and creative expression. Students may be contacted telephonically on the phone numbers provided by them to ascertain the originality of the entry submitted.

TCS IT Wiz 2015

CS IT Wiz, a 'knowledge Initiative' started in 1999, is the biggest inter-school IT Quiz in India for students of class 8-12. The quiz aims to build awareness, emphasize upon the importance of IT skills and enable students to look at technology through a whole new perspective. In today’s society and economy, IT plays an integral role and is a key enabler for success in diverse fields.
The 2015 TCS IT Wiz will be held in 15 cities across India - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Vizag.

About World Space Week
World Space Week (WSW) is the largest annual space event worldwide with 1,400 events in more than 80 countries. It is an exciting international astronomical event organized by the United Nations General Assembly from 4-10 October every year. These dates commemorate two historic events:
  • 4 October, 1957 marks the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1.
  • 10 October, 1967 marks the signing of the Treaty on Principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space.
SPACE is glad to organise and annual WSW Interschool Painting competition for students at primary and middle level from our associated schools only. Entries should be submitted as the scans of the paintings or as clicked images of the paintings. Painting submission starts from 5th October 2015 & can be submitted till 28th October 2015.

  • Any coloring medium can be used, however no computer generated paintings will be accepted (eg. using software such as Illustrator)
  • All the entries submitted will become SPACE property. Further, it can be used anywhere by SPACE.

Nottam Short Film Contest à´·ോർട്à´Ÿ് à´«ിà´²ിം മത്സരം

Information and Public relations Department seeks to bring to fore the video activism in all parts of the state . I&PRD is organizing an online short video festival “ Nottam” which will be a digital space as well as a repository for showcasing the local level development initiatives . The videos with maximum duration of 4 minutes can be fiction or non fiction. 

Article 1. Organisation

Nottam Short video festival will be organized by Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Kerala

Article 2. Aims and Objectives

The online short video competition aims to catalyse the imagination of the video professionals as well as amateurs to prepare and present short videos on developmental initiatives at the local level . This endeavor aims to showcase initiatives in rural as well as suburban centers rather than focusing on initiatives in cities. The unique initiatives in city can also be presented.

Article 3. Details of Video entries

3.1
Fiction Videos : Videos can be on a dream about a developmental project which could transform the life/lives of people in a particular geography.

3.2
Non Fiction Videos : Videos can be based on realised developmental project which had transform the life/lives of people in a particular geography, projects which could make a great difference in the quality of life etc.

3.3
The minimum length will be 90 seconds and maximum length will of 4 minutes.

3.4
The short video mustn't promote any political party, religious organizations, individual hagiographies nor bring in representative of political parties or religious organisations in the narrative of the video.

3.5
There is no restriction on number of entries for Director/Directors

3.6
The short videos needs to be uploaded in any video format to the official website of the competition. www.nottam.kerala.gov.in.

4.0 Preliminary Selection

4.1
A preliminary Selection committee will be nominated by I&PRD for selection of videos for online screening. This selected video will be made online for public viewing/rating/sharing.

4.2
The submitted short video needs to be focused on a development topic if not entry will be rejected at the stage of preliminary selection

4.3
The short video on preliminary selection committee's approval will be made online and audience shall be given an opportunity to share, rank and rate the video

4.4
Selection of films for online screening for public viewing/rating/sharing is at the discretion of the committee, set up by the Department. On the recommendation of the Selection Committee the decision taken by the I&PRD on selection will be considered as final and non-appealable.

4.5
The Director of I&PRD as the Director of the short video completion will have the privilege to waive any condition for participation in the Competition. Only entries recommended, by the jury to be constituted by I&PRD, will be available for online preview

4.6
The Director of I&PRD will constitute the jury for selection of award winners. The jury will have representation from experts from development, video and government sectors.

5.0
There will be no legal claim for participation in the competition on submission of videos.

6.0
Once submitted withdrawn of video from the competition will be permitted.

7.0
During the entire period of the competition, none of the invited videos shall be shown in any other online platform other than the official website or official web channel of the competition before its official presentation.

8.0
Entries selected for online screening can be shared by all in all available online platforms. Sharing /rating and discussions of video entries in the festival web page/channel by all will be an encouragement for the competition and the development themes reflected in the videos.

9.0
Subtitles in english shall be provided for videos in languages other than malayalam spoken in kerala.

10.0
All elements used in the video must be free of copyright issues and if any issue arises on screening or streaming of these videos in any public domain the director of the video shall need to indemnify and compensate the I&PRD from any legal/financial issues.

11.0
The Director on online submission of his/her video also give permission to use part of his video for promotional activities of the competition.

12.0
The Director on online submission of his/her video also shall permit broadcast of the submitted video for popularisation of the competition and video provided the discretion of giving permission shall be vested with the producer/director.

13.0
The officials of I&PRD and C-DIT is not allowed for submission of their entries for this competition

14.0
Entry deadlines & selection of films

14.1
The deadline for receiving applications and online video material: 25th September 2015.

14.2 The video must be accompanied by uploading the following in the press kit section:

a)
Synopsis in English and malayalam.

b)
Press Book or Publicity Brochure (Optional )

c)
Stills from the film & Director's photograph )

d)
Name, Address, Mobile phone No & e-mail of the person for correspondence.

15.0 Rules governing selection of videos for awards :

a)
The Information and Public Relations Department, Government Of Kerala will nominate a jury consisting of eminent persons including filmmakers and others from different fields.

b)
No person with any involvement in the films received for competition will be present in the Selection committee. The committee member will be asked to provide this in writing.

16.0 Last date

Last date for receiving preview material with press kit will be 25th September 2015.

17.0 Jury

17.1
An independent jury appointed by the Information and Public Relations Department , Government Of Kerala will determine the prize winning videos. The decision of the jury will be final.

17.2
No one with any involvement in the making or the marketing of an entry for Nottam competition may sit on the jury.

17.3
The jury will sit in judgment on short videos chosen by the selection committee for online preview

17.4
The Director, I&PRD and the two members nominated by the Director, I&PRD from the Festival crew are free to assist Jury in their deliberations but will take no part in the deliberations or decision making.

17.5
In addition to the cash awards the Jury is free to award special jury prizes and mentions to any aspect of filmmaking. These will not carry any cash prizes.

17.6
For non official Awards the Festival will facilitate the viewing of the films and the hosting of the Juries.

18.0 Last date

Participation in the festival implies acceptance of all aforementioned regulations and selection conditions.

1. CATEGORY :
The contest is open in three categories :
a. School Students
b. College Students

1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1 The competition is open to all Indian Citizens and children of Indian Citizens residing in India/
Abroad.
1.2 Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial
purposes and/or been published will not be eligible
1.3 Participant can submit only one image and only in one category
2. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

2.1 Images of not more than 10 MB in size must be submitted online and the organiser may
request for higher resolution images subsequently. The original images should be at least 3 MB
in size as winning images will be printed and exhibited.
2.2 Submitted images should be in JPEG format and at least 1,600 pixels wide for a horizontal
image or 1,600 pixels tall for a vertical image.

2.3 Each participant can submit only one (1) image.

2.4 Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic
enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed.

2.5 The photograph has to be sent with the ENTRY FORM to bpclteachersday@gmail.com Entries

2.6 All submitted images are non-returnable. The file name for each image should be clearly

Target Group: The children in the schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary

Eligibility: Any bonafide student of a school affiliated to CBSE studying in standard I to

Type of Quiz : Face to Face Competition in Schools followed by selection of best talents by
CBSE through an online quiz.

Conduct of Quiz:
 To ensure wider participation of students, involvement of schools and selection of the
winners on merit ,the competition is proposed in two stages. The school level competition
shall be held first as detailed below. Thereafter in the last week, the Board shall conduct an
online quiz for finding out the best talents from the school level competition who have
registered successfully.
Stage: 1- School Level Competition:
The school shall organize an in-house Quiz Competition on any day during 7th
-12th

September 2015 on the given theme i.e. “Habitats”. The focus should be on creativity and
innovation in the area of Mathematics, Science and Technology. The school shall select best
two students from each category ( Primary, Middle and Secondary ).
The selection of the candidates should be made in an impartial manner involving all
students interested in the Quiz competition. The school may evolve its own mechanism for
initial shortlisting. However conduct of Quiz competition on any day during 7th -12th
September 2015 in the school is a mandatory condition to be eligible for the next stage .
The names of two winners in each category ,two photographs of the event, a report
in 200 words and contact details must be uploaded by the school on a link which will be
available on CBSE website www.cbseacademic.in during 14th and 15th September , 2015.
Schools shall be able to register only upto 5-00 p.m on 15th September 2015 .
The specifications of the photograph for uploading are as given below.
 Image Format – JPEG
 Size of Image –Maximum 200 KB
Utmost care should be taken while filling up the registration form and submission of report
of first stage. In case, the email id registered is found to be invalid, no user id and password
will be issued. Report submitted by any other mode like email, post etc. shall not be
considered for registration.
This is only the first level of the Quiz and no prizes are given by the Board to winners of the
first stage.
Stage: 2 – Online Quiz conducted by the Board :
The Board shall allot user id and password to the schools who have successfully
registered within stipulated time. The date of the Online Quiz shall be 22nd September 2015
.The detailed modalities shall be communicated to the school registered through the
website www.cbseacademic.in in due course of time .Best entries shall be selected on the
basis of maximum scores obtained and minimum time for completion of the Quiz.
For claiming the prize money, the Principal of the school shall sent a bonafide
certificate of the winner in the Proforma given in Annexure- 1 within three days of

General Terms and Conditions
The participating schools and students need to abide by the following terms and conditions.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students of class I-X from all SSC/ICSE/CBSE/IB and other boards can participate in DSL only by enrolling through schools & private institutions. Applications that are not routed through their schools or institutions will not be accepted.
Children of owner, employees, associates and relatives of Dreamworld India are strictly not allowed to participate in DSL Exams.

Enrollment Process:

Enrollment forms will be available at schools. Students can enroll for both the subjects or any one of the subject of their choice.
Schools should collect all the fees from the students and issue DD or At Par cheques in favour of Dreamworld India, payable at Bangalore. They can also transfer the amount though NEFT / RTGS to HDFC Bank, A/C no 03122090000034, Vijayanagar Branch, IFSC code: HDFC0000312.
Dreamworld India has not authorized any associates /executives to collect exam fees in cash.
Fees once paid will not be refunded.
Registration closes on 30th September 2015.

Exam Dates & Process:
The level-1 exams will be conducted between 15th November 2015 to 15th December 2015.
DSL will provide question paper for mathematics and spell bee for level-1.
Issuing of level-1 exam hall ticket, seating arrangements, conducting exam and correction of level -1 answer papers will be done by respective schools.
The schools should send the level- 1 exam results of maths and spell bee through an email to dsl@dwidirect.com, within 20 days of commencement of the exams.
Level-2 exam will be conducted in the month of February 2016.
Details Specific to Spell Bee :

The students will be divided into different categories based on their class and DSL will provide the question papers as per the below categories:        
            Category 1: Class I & Class II
            Category 2: Class III & Class IV
            Category 3: Class V, Class VI & Class VII
            Category 4: Class VIII, Class IX & Class X
Level 1 exam will be forty words written test which is to be attempted in forty minutes.
Level - 2 and Level - 3 will be conducted by DSL.
The level-3 is conducted orally in front of an audience.

Details Specific to Maths :

The question paper will be in a multiple choice format. There will be no negative marking.
Level 1 exam will have 60 questions and the same has to be answered in 60 minutes.
Students scoring 90% and above will be eligible to write level- 2 exam.
For level 2 exam, the hall tickets will be provided by DSL through emails to schools.
Level 2 exam will be conducted by DSL, Which may be in the same /near by city.
Conducting Exam and Logistics:

Each school can nominate any number of students for this examination. However, a minimum participation of 100 students is mandatory.
The decision of DWI will be final and abiding on all the parties in relation to conducting of exams, deciding centers, formate of question papers, issue of scholarship etc.
DWI reserves the right to change /modify or amend any or all of the above said terms and conditions, including the dates of the exam and the venues/centers/prizes without any prior notice .If there is any change in date or venues, the same will be intimated to the schools.
Disputes if any will be subjected to Bangalore Jurisdiction.

Results:

The results will be declared in March 2016 and can also be accessed from the website www.dreamscholarslegue.com .DSL will not entertain any individual requests for result /certificate at any stage.
In case there is more than one winner achieving the same rank, in any of the top position, then the prize will be distributed equally.
Prizes and Scholarship:

All the prize /scholarship will be distributed during June/July 2016.
The DSL scholarship amounts will be paid at different point in time, which will be decided by DSL.
All the participants will be awarded with certificates upon completion of the evaluation process. These will be sent to the respective schools for distribution along with complete marks list.

In remembrance of a great teacher, educationist and philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , the Central Board of Secondary Education proposes ‘CBSE Expression Series on Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’ on his birthday on 5th September, 2015.
The details of this Expression Series are as follow:
 i. To be held on 5 th and 6 th September, 2015.
ii. The three categories of participation are: a) Classes I to V, b) Classes VI to VIII and c) Classes IX to XII
iii. Topics are given in annexure 1.
iv. Students may submit their entries as Essay/ Poem/ Drawing. v. Entries may be submitted in any of the 22 scheduled languages and English.
vi. Students may submit their entries from schools as well as home.
 vii. Entries may be submitted using any of the three following modes: a) Online mode through the link. (Details given in Annexure II) b) Uploading only the jpeg/ jpg/ doc file of the entry through the link. viii. ix. Entries submitted through email/ by post will not be considered.
 x. The links and Mobile App for submission of entry shall remain activated from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM on both days i.e. 5 th – 6 th September, 2015.
xi. Best 36 entries in each category shall be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- and a Certificate of Merit.
xii. Each participant will get a Certificate of Participation.
xiii. Selection of best entries will be on the basis of originality of content and creative expression. Students shall be contacted telephonically on the phone numbers provided by them to ascertain the originality of the entry submitted.
 xiv. Plagiarism check will be done and the entry will be liable to disqualification if found plagiarized at any point of time.
