Central Board of Secondary Education proposes ‘CBSE Expression Series’ on Shivaram Hari Rajguru (born-24th August), Major Dhyan Chand (born on 29th August) and Govind Vinayak Karandikar( born 23rd August).
The details of this ‘Expression Series’ are as follow:
i. To be held on 26th -27th August, 2015.
ii. Participation is voluntary.
 iii. Students may submit their entries from schools as well as home.
iv. The three categories of participation are:
a) Classes I to V, b)Classes VI to VIII , c)Classes IX to XII
v. Students may submit their entries as Essay/ Poem/ Drawing.
 vi. Entries may be submitted in any of the 22 scheduled languages and English.
vii. Entries may be submitted using any of the three following modes:
a) Online mode through the link. (Details given in Annexure I)
b) Uploading only the jpeg/ jpg/ doc file of the entry through the link. (Details given in Annexure I) c) Mobile App using the numbers (Details given in Annexure II)

viii. ix. Entries submitted through email/ by post will not be considered.
x. The links and Mobile App for submission of entry shall remain activated from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM both days on 26th -27th August, 2015.The link will be available on www.cbseacademic.in.
xi. Best 36 entries in each category shall be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- and a Certificate of Merit.
xii. Each participant will get an online Certificate of Participation.
 xiii. Selection of best entries will be purely on the originality of content and creative expression. Students shall be contacted telephonically on the phone numbers provided by them to ascertain the originality of the entry submitted.
xiv. Plagiarism check will be done and the entry will be liable to disqualification if found plagiarized at any point of time.

Design a Logo for Dr. Ambedkar Foundation

The Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) is an autonomous body under the administrative control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. The Foundation has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing, administering and carrying on the important and long-term schemes and programmes identified during the Centenary Celebration of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The main objectives of the foundation inter alia include implementation of programmes and activities for furthering the ideology and message of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar among the masses in India as well as abroad.

The activities and programmes currently pursued by the Foundation are as given below:-

• Setting up of Dr. Ambedkar National Public Library at Janpath.
• Dr. Ambedkar National Award for Social Understanding and Upliftment of Weaker Sections.
• Dr. Ambedkar International Award for Social Change.
• Dr. Ambedkar Chairs in Universities/Institution for carrying out research on the thoughts and ideals of Babasaheb.
• Publication of the Collected Works of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar into Hindi and other regional languages
• Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Award Schemes for meritorious student of Secondary Examination belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes

Presently, the Foundation does not have any logo of its own. Therefore, invitation is given welcoming inputs for designing a logo for DAF.

This task seeks inputs to design a Logo for Dr. Ambedkar Foundation.

The last date of submission is 18th September, 2015.

The winning entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-.

Technical Parameters
 • The participant should upload the logo as a file in JPG or PNG format.
• The winner of the competition shall be required to submit the design in as editable and open file format and on a digital.
 • Please do not imprint or watermark your logo design.
• Please note that the logo design must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
 • Logo should preferably be designed in colour.
• Please bear in mind that for actual utilization of the winning logo, the size may vary from 3 cms X 3 cms to 75 X 75 cms. While designing this aspect should be kept in mind.
 • Entry must be submitted to the Creative Corner Section of MyGov.nic.in
• Make sure our MyGov profile is accurate and updated as we will use the information on the profile for further communication. This includes your name, photo number. Entries by those with incomplete profiles would be rejected.

National Standard Examination (NSE) by IAPT

National Standard Examination (NSE) conducted by IAPT in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Junior Science is the first step for the worldwide Olympiad.

All further steps are conducted by Homi Bhabha Certer for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai.

After NSE examination, next step for the eligible students is the Indian National Olympiad (INO) examination in the respective subjects.

National Standard Examination At 12th level -

National Standard Examination in Physics (NSEP), conducted every year since 1987, has become the most 'visible' activity of IAPT. It is a voluntary examination. More than 40,000 students at over 1200 centres, most of which are in small towns and villages, appear at this examination. The participation, purely voluntary, offers an opportunity to measure one's standing against a national standard. NSEP is not linked to any entrance or scholarship award. Students are allowed to take away the question paper and the solutions are provided to them after a week. The NSEP is carried out in English, Hindi & a few other Indian languages.

Recognition:

Gold medalists in NSEP, after they complete their education, may join DAE directly through interview without appearing in their entrance test.

Scholarships:

A number of scholarships (subject to a maximum of 10) have been instituted to encourage students to take-up physics as a career. Those who seek admission in B.Sc. (with physics) after NSEP are eligible for these scholarships.

National Standard Examination in Chemistry / Biology / Astronomy / Junior Science

National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) and National Standard examination in Biology (NSEB) in collaboration with ACT (Association of Chemistry Teachers) and ATBS (Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences). Both these exams are also at the Std. XII level.

National Standard Examination in Astronomy (NSEA) is examination leading to International Astronomy & Astrophysics Olympiads.

National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) is examination leading to International Junior Science Olympiads.

The International Olympiad (IO) programme follows a five stage process.

Stage one - National Standard Examinations (NSEs) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology,Astronomy, Junior Science organized by IAPT. For more about NSE, go to students brochure. Statewise quota is available here.

All the subsequent stages are conducted by Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai.( www.hbcse.tifr.res.in )

Stage two - is the Indian National Olympiad (INO) examinations. The eligible students from stage one can participate in INO in respective subjects. For eligibility refer to students brochure. Statewise quota is available here.

Stage three - is the Orientation Cum Selection Camps (OCSC). For these camps, about 35 students in each subject will be selected from INO on performance basis

Stage four - These students will have a Pre Departure Training (PDT) for two weeks.

Stage five - Participation in International Olympiad (IO) of the selected students.

1.0 Petroleum Conservation Research Association invites children of Recognized Schools within India, affiliated to All Boards, Central or State, for a National Level Painting & Essay writing competition
2.0 Languages for Essay: Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali. Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali.
3.0 Eligibility: Students of classes 6th to gth are eligible to participate in the competition through their school only. No individual entry will be entertained & schools can participate in either or both (Essay & Painting) Competitions.

A. School Level Painting Competition 2015 to be conducted by the School, for students of  6-9  for a duration of two hours. Schools are requested to advertise the topic for the Painting competition in advance, so as to enable the children to obtain information on fuel conservation from various sources. Participating school will send the scan copy or photograph of the best entry of the painting competition, along with an Undertaking as per Annexure 1, to email

 The entry of the school should reach by email, immediately after the result of the competition . and in no case later than 30.09.15,
1500 Hours. Entries received without the completed fonnat as per Annexure 1 or sent directly by students or their parents or received as hard copy will not be accepted
The Principal also has to certify the number of participating students in the competition. The schools are required to retain the entries sent to PCRA. in original, as those entries shortlisted for the final round, when contacted, will be required to be submitted in original, to PCRA.
The children can use Pencils, Pencil Colours, Crayons, Water Colours etc. The children may consider the following points while painting: ·
I. Relevance of the theme depicting the topic
ii. Execution of concept/theme.
iii. Overall visual appeal, handling of given space and use of appropriate colour combination.

National Talent Search Exam For Class X Students NTSE 2015-16 : National Council of Educational Research & Training

The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify and nurture talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels:— Stage—l (State Level) and Stage—II (National Level).
Eligibility for applying for the State Level NTSE
Only those pupils who are studying in Class X during 2015-16 on any Government/Aided/Recognised schools/Kendriya Vidyalaya/Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kerala are eligible to apply for the State Level NTSE. Pupils who have secured not less than 55% for all non-language subjects in the qualifying examination of class IX of 2014-15 will be admitted.
Selection:
Stage-l, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage- I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.
Qualifying Marks:
Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each paper.
Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.

Procedure of the Test at State Level (Kerala)
The test will be conducted in Two Parts of 90 minutes duration each.
Part I - Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) will comprise of 90 objective type questions from Social sciences, Science subjects and Mathematics.
Part II consists of Mental Ability Test - MAT & Language Comprehensive Test. There will be 50 Questions in Mental Ability Test and 40 question in Language comprehension Test (40 questions in Malayalam Language and 40 questions in English Language). Candidates can choose either Malayalam or English for
Language comprehension Test.
Marks scored for language comprehension test will not be considered for ranking.
But candidates must score a minimum for 40% marks in Language Comprehensive Test.
All questions in Part II are also of objective type

Portions included for the State Level Test under Part I are as follows.
a. 9th & 10th Standard portions of Kerala State syllabus for the current academic  year.
b. 9 th & 10th standard portions of CBSE syllabus for the current academic year.
c. Certain portions studied on lower classes which are essential for the proper understanding of the subjects. The question will be of higher order involving application and reasoning.
The candidate should answer Part I and then Part II after an interval of one hour.
Candidate can choose English, Malayalam, Tamil or Kannada as medium of Examination for SAT & MAT.
(i) Part I: SAT I consists of 90 objective type questions in Social sciences, Science subjects & Mathematics.

All India Essay Writing Event 2015

The All-India Essay Writing Event is organised each year in numerous educational institutions across the country. There are two categories of participation and students have the option to express themselves in English, Hindi or one of the 9 approved regional languages of India. To get information on the options available to you please check the poster displayed in your institution or contact the Essay Event coordinator of your institution.

Participation is open to the following two categories:

Category 1 is for students of classes 9 to 12. To participate under this category you need to go through your school. When the Essay Writing Event is announced in your school, get in touch with the teacher in charge of the Event. Please ensure that you have the correct topic for your category and that the description of the topic is exactly the same as on the poster. Obtain a copy of the Participant Information Slip which is to be completed by you and attached securely to the essay that you submit to your institution. In case your school is not participating in the Essay Writing Event and you wish to do so, you may get in touch with the helpdesk@younghearts.org, giving your name, address and contact number.

Category 2 is for those attending an Under Graduate or Post Graduate program in any educational institution. If you wish to participate under this category, you need to get in touch with the coordinator for your institution. In case the details of the coordinator are not available or you are unable to get in touch with the concerned person, mail a request to us at helpdesk@younghearts.org with the address of your institution. Before submitting the essay, please ensure that the completed Participant Information Slip is securely attached to it.

All eligible and willing candidates from a participating institution must submit their entries to the institution's designated authorities by 28 August 2015. If you are not enrolled with an institution for study or have opted for a distance learning course/program, you are also eligible to participate, provided you are 28 years of age or younger as of 28 August 2015. You need to write to the helpdesk@younghearts.org, giving your name, postal address and telephone number/s. We will direct you to our designated representative for your area with whom you can coordinate your participation. Please get in touch with us in sufficient time to enable you to submit your essay to the designated representative before the due date (28 August 2015).

The National Culture Fund (NCF), Ministry of Culture is an organization that assists in preserving and promoting India's Culture and Heritage. NCF was established as a funding mechanism distinct from the existing sources and patterns of funding for the arts and culture of India.

The NCF was established by the Government of India (Ministry Of Culture) in 1996 as a trust under the Charitable Endowments Act 1890 managed by a Council chaired by the Minister of Culture. The day to day affairs of the Fund are run by an Executive Committee headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.

NCF's primary mandate is to establish and nurture Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the field of heritage. NCF's role is to catalyze relationships between private, public, government, non-government agencies, private institutions and foundations and mobilize resources for the restoration, conservation, protection and development of India's rich, natural, tangible and intangible heritage.

The NCF calls for a design competition for Logo (with motto) through public competition for the development of identity and branding of the organization capturing and promoting the main value/s of the organization. Accordingly all Resident Indians (Professional artists/ agencies and Non-professionals) are hereby invited to participate in a competition for design of the logo (with motto).

GAME JAM TITANS 2015 - Game Development Competition for School and College Students

GAME JAM TITANS is a game development Competition open to School students, and College students, which will be held across 6 cities namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune further culminating at all India finals at Nasscom Game Developers Conference at Pune in November 2015.
Teams have to develop a PC based game on a theme given by jury.

Participation Criteria

School students – Students between 10 – 18 Years
College students – Students above 18, enrolled in college / pvt institute

Team Size

School – Minimum of 2 members and Maximum of 5 members
College – Can be single member entry or as a team of maximum 5 members

GAME JAM TITANS RULES AND REGULATIONS 

1 Competition Category 
Game jam Titans has three competition categories:-
School Category :- School students above the age of 10 and less than 18 years
College Category :- Students enrolled in college an above the age of 18 years
Professional :- professional above the age of 21 years

2 Team Definition School 
– Team would consist of minimum 2 members and maximum 5 members College
– Can be a single member and maximum 5 members Professional
- Can be a single member and maximum 5 members

3 Game development Guideline :
- Theme Based competition:-
For School Students
– Theme of the game will be announced 7days prior to the competition at Game Jam Titans website and submit the game at the venue on the designated day .
For college students & Professional
– Theme will be announced on the spot of the competition after which teams have to develop the game within 48 hours before final submission

 4 Game Submission (School Students ):-
 Submit a PC based game
 Submit your game at the game submission counter at the venue via pen drive / Disk
 Only one Game Submission Is allowed Per team
 Game must be self made during the competition and not ready made
 If asked by the jury ,The team will have to produce files related ( Project Folder )

 5 Game Submission (College and professional ) 
 Submit a Pc Based Game
 Team have to upload their game and paste the download link at www.gamejamtitans.com

1. Hardware and software :- 
All teams are required to bring their own laptop and software for the game.
No team will be provided any hardware and software at the venue

2. System Requirement:-
 (A.) System requirements for Unity development
 1. .Windows XP with SP2 or later; Windows 7 with SP1 or later; Windows 8; Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.
Note that Unity was not tested on server versions of Windows and OS X. Windows Vista is not supported.

2. Graphics card with DirectX 9 level (shader model 2.0) capabilities. Any card made since 2004 should work.

3. Using Occlusion Culling requires GPU with Occlusion Query support (some Intel GPUs do not support that). (B) System requirements for Unity iOS development In addition to the general system requirements:
1. Only Unity OS X version supports iOS as build platform 2. Xcode 4.3

2nd Odisha Book Online Essay Competition Winners announced

Odisha Book announced the winners of the 2nd Odisha Book Online Essay Competition on 01st August 2015. This competition was the key initiative undertaken by the Indumatee Media which provides services of Publication of Books, Anthologies, Magazines, Online Portals and other services. Indumatee Media operates three Webportals www.odishabook.com (Online Portal), www.odishakatha.com (Bilingual Online Portal) and www.indiajobsbook.com (Online Job Portal) respectively. 

Participants had the opportunity to express their thoughts on the topic “The Role Of Media In Our Society”, received a good number of entries. The essays were evaluated by a panel of five judges through a review process and finally analyzed by Mr. Nihar Ranjan Shanti, Senior Editor of Odishabook.com. 

The three winners are:
