Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan: A national programme to identify and nurture scientific temper among children

Vijnana Bharati & Vigyan Prasar jointly announces for a massive science propagation programme among school children in the name of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan. Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan shall be a national program for educating and popularizing science among the school students of 6th to 12th standard, to identify keen knowledge seekers in Science. Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan has following objectives:
Educating school children in Indian contribution in the world of Science and Technology from tradition to modern.
Conduct competitive tests to identify the bright and creative students.
Different levels of workshops to give hands on training for students.
Visit to various R & D Institutions to get exposure to younger generations.
Identifying state level and national level successful students and motivating them with prizes & certificates.
Providing mentors for winning students to carry forward the education in higher level of science.


Structure of VVM
It will a four level process of which the first three are competitions conducted at the State Level and the fourth level is a National Level competition. The VVM shall identify Vigyan Jigyasu (Keen Knowledge Seeker of Science) at National Level.

Students of Class VI-XII of any Board of Education

State Level Screening
There shall be two papers on same day with 15 minutes break for State Level Screening. First paper shall be Prathama Exam and second shall be Dwitiya Exam. Group wise syllabus has been given in this booklet. The same can be downloaded from our website. Details of screening can also be seen in the table below.

Answering in State Level Screening shall be Optical Mark Reader (OMR) based. OMR sheets shall be collected back. Students shall be given a break of 15 minutes after Prathama and before Dwitiya Exam. Answers of Dwitiya shall be checked only for those students who secure equal or more than 40% marks (i.e. equal or more than 32 Marks) in Prathama. Final merit list to identify participants for State Level VVM Camp shall be prepared on the basis of marks in Dwitiya.

In case of equal score, marks of Prathama shall be taken account and, if further score equals, then marks in Indian Contribution to Science and Technology (refer syllabus) shall be considered for deciding inter-se merit and selecting the eligible for State Level Camp.

Questions shall be in Hindi & English Medium both. Date of Sate Level Screening can be seen in section of important dates.

The text material of Indian Contribution to Science & Technology, which covers 40% of total syllabus shall be published by Vigyan Prasar in Hindi & English through their very popular magazine Dream 2047 in the issues of September and October 2012. The same shall be available for download on the website of Vigyan Prasar (www.vigyanprasar.gov.in)


National Level Science Camp
Top 2 students from each class from each state shall participate in a two day National Level VVM Camp. All eligible students shall be paid to and fro rial/bus fare on producing proper proof.
